Summer Makeup

In Texas, it is so humid some days that it feels like stepping into a steam room when leaving your house. Not only does this weather bring out the oilier side of my skin, but also calls for making my makeup a little more bullet-proof so it lasts all day in this heat! That is why I often have a different set of makeup loves for each season. These are the products that I find myself reaching for everyday this summer. I really think that layering these makes my makeup really last, while still looking natural, because ain't nobody got time for looking like a drag queen in July.

THE GOODS

1. Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel
2. Maybeline Fit Me Concealer (15 Fair)
3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Light)
4. NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner (Via De' Martelli)
5. Laura Mercier Shimmer Block (Peach Mosaic)
6. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (Nude)
7. Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ Foundation (20)
8. Maybeline Colossal Volume Pumped Up Mascara
9. Make Up For Ever Mat Bronze (20)

THE ROUTINE

1. I mix a small (pea size) amount of LM Tinted Moisturizer with a small amount of MUFE Mat Velvet + and apply all over my face like lotion, working it into the skin. I really like the way this makes my foundation sink into my skin, evening out my skin tone without looking heavy at all.

2. Using the doe foot applicator of the Maybeline Fit Me Concealer, I swipe the wand from the inner corner of my eye (under) to the out corner and drag the leftovers over my eyelid. I blend this out with my finger or my Sigma 'F86' kabuki tapered brush dragging the product out towards my temple and down my nose in a triangle shape. This blends out everything perfectly, fits into the inner corner perfectly and makes everything perfect. Perfect!

3. I then use a Real Techniques 'Expert Face Brush' to apply my cream bronzer, Soleil Tan de Chanel, softly under the cheekbones, on my temples and under my jaw line. If you do get too much product on your brush it is easy to blend out. I love this stuff - it is expensive but I have had mine for about 2 years now and am just now running low. Using a cream under a powder really sets everything in place.

4. Now, I like to fill in my eyebrows, giving the liquid/cream products on my face time to "set". I really go back and forth between several products so I did not include them all above. Some of my favs are Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, It! Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil, Mac eyeshadow in Cork and if I am really needing my brows to stay in place, I use Anastasia of Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. It is waterproof and will not budge until you want it to. Amazing!

5. After brows, I set my t-zone with Mac Mineralize Skinfinish with a fluffy brush like Sephora 'Pro Flawless Airbrush 56'. I then set my bronzer with MUFE Mat Bronze and the Marc Jacobs 'The Bronze' brush - expensive but wonderfully soft and the large shape really softly buffs the bronzer in. (No harsh lines with that brush!)

6. Laura Mericer Peach Mosaic Shimmer Bloc is THE product I am obsessed with right now. I swirl a Laura Mercier Angled Blush Brush into all the colors and sweep over the apples/tops of my cheekbones for a pretty glow with little color. It is a gorgeous, natural highlight. With my finger I also put the more orange shade over my eyelids and use a pencil brush like the Sigma E30 to put the lightest color on my inner corners.

7. I use my NARS eyeliner on the lash line, sometimes smudging this out with my finger or smudge brush. This eyeliner is great - really lasts all day without transferring - even on the waterline.

8. Then I heavily coat my lashes in the Maybeline Pumped Up Mascara. It is my fav as of the moment and have not even touched any of the other mascaras in my drawer all month. Top it off with some balm ( I love Nivea, Jack Black, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment) and good to go! I rarely fuss with gloss/lipstick when I am wanting summer-makeup. It always makes me feel too "done".

VOILA! Thats my whole summer face! I don't wear a full face everyday but definately like to have on makeup for work days and get togethers with friends and family!
